I wish to demonstrate, through the following example, that even the so-called "small-scale mining operations" cause our Swedish water rich nature, our habitats and ecological systems very serious and long-term damage.
The Swedish municipality of Arjeplog has now evaluated mining objects and assigned these risk classes 1, 2, 3 and 4. Risk class 1 has been considered to be of very high risk to humans and the environment, mainly because the water is used as drinking water. In addition to this, the classification depends on the size of the contaminated area, the hazard of the metals, as well as the high dispersion conditions.
Among the evaluated objects Nasa Silver Mine was awarded with risk class 1. The mining operations at Nasa Silver Mine were run during three different epochs, starting in year 1635 and ending in 1889. Galena ore was mined for extraction of lead and silver.
    Kind regard,
