In 1970 the banks all closed (strike?) in Ireland. When currency stopped circulating cheques and IOUs were still excepted and varified largely by the publicans vouching for the worth of one punter for the next. Maybe irrelevant in 2018 but when the sheet goes down I trust my local publican or a gypsy with a bag of gold over some dudes flash driven. Happy new yeR!
