Both copper and EQN have now pulled back and are at or near my original BUY re-entry price for the ninth time but as there is yet no sign of either bottoming. I can see no reason to buy yet as further substantial falls are possible. I was going to re enter in the mid $5.

But the world has changed and EQN will trade well below this now.

All copper both spot and forward prices are accelerating the falling prices worldwide – LME stocks are continuing to bulge and are growing – countries are reporting falling imports of copper – of most concern is the most forward price outlook in 3 years edging back towards $2 – and on top of this Chile is expanding its output faster than thought possible.

October rumour was ZFX and by the 5/11/07 it was OXR to launch a take over of EQN. There will be no T/O of EQN by any company - that is not a friendly merger because of the ‘poison pill’ that EQN has ready and the CEO is on record as stating “we would not hesitate to use in defence against an aggressor on our register”

This is a great trading stock and can be very volatile. On the First of August it was above $4.70 and by the 16th August it was below $3.00. From then it has had a good run which only fuels the capability to pull back harder.

EQN is a great stock but it cannot ever trade in indifference to world copper which all looks downhill well into next year. Take over rumour may hold it up a little longer – but I believe this will fade fast.
