Basing opinions about the efficiency of
solar panels in a semi-arid location
    like Canberra on guesstimates
    from the rain-soaked and
    gloomy UK is self-delusion
    pretending to be science.

    Basially every new venture involves
risk - the first stream engines often
blew up - the first commercial jet
    (the UK's 'Comet') soon developed
    metal fatique and several fell
    from the sky before Comet
    was scrapped BUT Comet
    paved the way for 747s
    safely (except for all
    the CO2 they exmit)
    fillng modern skies.

But it's a bit too late for dire warnings
about inefficiencies to be of any use
to me - my solar steam engine is
    chuffing along nicely and since
start-up at 3 pm on Friday has
    pumped 47 Kilowatt Hours
    into the national grid.

I was going to say that you could
    look upon me as HotCopper's
    George Stephenson but then
    some folk say Thomas Newcomen
    invented the first steam engine
    and others give the crediit
to James Watt aften whom my
    47 solar kilowatts were named.
