In order to protect our Swedish 31 236 km², 7.7 % of the mainland area, salinity free inland waters it is necessary to strictly prevent drainage of, among others, toxic arsenic and sulfate mine wastes from acidifying local waterways, that can cause severe biological and ecological damages.
The Swedes are now more zealous about their environment than ever!
