Thanks for the link acees, it was a very interesting read. The report all but buried my fascination with CETO as an energy source, but as desalinisation pump the technology looks promising.
Lancelots, my question was poorly worded, I did mean initial seawater volume, which, according to one of the engineers (Matt, cannot remember his last name), is close to 42000L/h.
I have a close friend who is helping design the R.O and piping layouts for the new Sydney Desalinisation plant, I will tap him on the shoulder and see if I can get a series of output estimates using a 42000L input for different scale operations.
A major variable is of course unit cost. I understand there are no definite costings available per unit, but has anyone come across any estimates recently? The design sounds like it is being constantly altered (the 9 units in Freemantle are removed and reconfigured so often it is rare for all 9 to be in operation at once), and is operating in 0.4m-0.5m swell (not ideal), so we cannot expect results anytime soon, and the trial phase should be in operation for another 6-12 months. That said, I would expect a reasonable flow of partial results up until then, including (hopefully) pricing estimates.
So if anyone has any unit cost estimates from the company, they would be appreciated.
