The Courts favour negotiation and settlement, hence the time given for that.
On the other hand, should the 3rd one not wanting to settle than GTG can use this in court to the other party's detriment.
I guess this party could try to "run close to deadlines" given by the court but could possibly settle at the very last moment if not before.
