''I didn't get the impression Alexander he was being dishonest''

Maybe not intentionally. It may be intellectual dishonesty. Dishonesty by omission. Perhaps an example of self deception....there is no possible way that he could know that his lucid dream state happened during the moments that his brain had shut down. He was not watching the clock during his experience, timing the event to point of brain failure, nor could he guess, he was near death, it's absurd.

Honesty would entail saying....''look I had an extremely lucid near death experience that happened during a serious health crisis, I'm not sure of the timing but it was around the time my brain shut down for a short period'' or words to that effect.

He went too far. Perhaps enthusiasm, perhaps to sell his book and reinforce his beliefs, I don't know, but his claim as it stands exceeds what he or anyone else could possibly know.
