for gdnf infusion trial,   NEGATIVE RESULTS AT WEEK 40, POSITIVE RESULTS  AT WEEK 80 AFTER UNBLINDING.

ONE  major difference between the 2 studies is: in LCT study PET scans showed no difference in l-d0pa production whereas in this other trial  there was a measured increase.

so maybe there is a chance for results good enough to get another phase2 trial approved.   plus with this study, where catheters  are implanted in the patient's brain so that researchers can put whatever they want into the patient's brain, even kickapoo juice (for you little abner fans of yesteryear), testing higher doses would be just using same patients.

BOTTOM LINE, WHEN SOMEONE GETS A DBS AND IT WORKS WELL, YOU DON'T NEED STATISTICS TO TELL IF THE DBS IS  HELPING, IT'S FREAKIN OBVIOUS,  YOUR'RE LIKE A NEW PERSON.   WHEN I'M OFF AND MISERABLE, MY FEET RIGID, MY SHOULDERS ACHING, MY ABDOMINAL MUSCLES SQUEEZING SO HARD I HAVE TROUBLE BREATHING, I KNOW THAT ABOUT 40 MINUTES AFTER TAKING 150MG OF L-DOPA ALL THOSE PD SYMPTOMS WILL BE almost GONE and the cost for a month's supply is about $30 USA.  I SURE AM NOT GOING TO SPEND $100,000 FOR A PROCEDURE THAT MIGHT ONLY HELP A LITTLE IN A SMALL POPULATION OF PD'ERS and requires brain surgery  when DBS is proven and there are many other clinical trials testing stem cells, gene therapy and fetal neuron transplantation in progress.
