why you wouldn't want a tin mine in DRC

Remembering that Tin is a "conflict" metal and DRC is the home of conflict! The DRC’s Mines Minister, Mr. Martin Kabwelulu, has flagged that a proposed revision to Congo’s 2002 mining code is now before the upper house of parliament. If approved, it will lift the royalty paid on copper and cobalt mined in the Congo (~6.5% of global copper supply; ~69% of global cobalt supply expected in 2018) – from 2% to 3.5%. If the bill is approved, it allows the state to elect cobalt as a strategic metal – boosting the royalty higher to 5%.

Whilst this is discussed Cobalt - tin is also a strategic metal....its just a matter of time.
