This is not the first time that FGF5 has sparked some interest in the context of wool. In the end, it's only logical. CDY has the science and, in principle, a market ready product (yet for hair, not wool), the wool market has the need.

I had wanted to post this a month or two earlier but here I go now.

First of all, the wool market is huge.
Says this relatively recent article on FarmOnline from October. Australia alone? Wow.

I won't repeat much of it as it is really worth reading in its entirety.

Now, there has also been a recent study titled
Ectopic expression of FGF5s induces wool growth in Chinese merino sheep.

    Here are a few quotes.

So about 21% longer and 50% more fleece weight would mean around 80% more wool, if I am reading that right.

We also know (from earlier announcements - eg 2 March 17) that CDY is working on a new FGF5 inhibitor that has been said to be almost seven times more effective in inhibiting FGF5 than previous extracts (quote).

Note that this was about an engineered cell line. Source: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5338843/

It seems to me that the market is tremendous. So will Cellmid go that path any time soon? When I think about success stories like Anatara (ANR) it would seem to make sense.
