re: miles yet again avoids the issue. I guess I take issue with your last paragraph Yak.
I somehow doubt that the seek and destroy approach is going to win.
Tolerance, acceptance of new norms and a desire to live in harmony must somehow be established.

But you are correct in assuming that the solutions will not be readily forthcoming or at least acceptable solutions to all sides.

I honestly believe for the people of the world to move forward that the old rule books need to be thrown out.

I wonder if any one has asked Bin laden what he desires in order to assist in bringing peace to the world.
Of course we can come up with 'pandering to the murderers and aggressors' theme but we are all decendents of murderers and aggressors somewhere along the line. Would I be in a mood to forgive any that take the life and/or livelyhood of my family. I doubt it, yet that is what must be done.

The competetiveness in the human spirit however will undoubtedly ensure we remain combatants rather than colleagues and thus the future we leave for our children is less optimistic than perhaps the lives we have enjoyed thus far.

Solutions? first all sides need to determine what it is that they want.

    cheers
