With my wife Maureen being over Broome about now
tucking into Chicken Kiev at 35,000 feet on her way
to a big family wedding in Penang (while I chew
on a lonely cheese sandwich) I've been trying
to think what movie I can put on the
DVD as it's too drizzly to work
in the backyard.
But then talking in my last post about
Shock! Horror! headlines reminded
me that in my stash of Rainy Day
DVDs I possess a genuine gem
'The Paper' set in New York.
I was visiting New York about the
time the movie was made and
it captures the feel and mood
of New York perfectly - even
(in this clip) the Class War
between the snobby New
York Times ('The Sentinel'
in the movie) and the racy
'Sun' that Michael Keaton
had been promoted to
but blows sky-high
in this clip.
What I particularly like about
'The Paper' is it has *three*
happy endings. Now who
could ask for more -
except for an Aussie
trade unionist! (vbg!)
