Maybe I don't believe everything that stockbrokers tell me or what I read in the media.

Maybe when someone tells me a stock is a "blue chip"[*], I look at its financial track record and decide for myself whether it is.

Maybe I look around me and try to emulate the investment processes of some people who have invested in companies that have beaten "the index" over time by a very, very wide margin, and who, as a result, have no need to complain to the smh online finance forum about how rubbish the Australian "market" is.

[*] I'm not sure what the actual genesis is of the phrase "blue chip", but I'll wager it is one of the many constructs of the stockbroking fraternity designed to get people to do some trading for the benefit of the broker's commissions account
