I have personally supported analysts in Deutsche Bank and what I saw was part of my motivation to get into stocks originally. They're guys from prestigious academic institutions hired for their maths skills but not their acumen. Often they seemed autistic and definitely anti-social. They needed "special care". They often made literal interpretations of everything they read and didn't seem capable of counter-intuitive or nuanced thought at all. At all.
If you think this can't be true then see that the Deutsche Bank share price has fallen from US$103 in 2008 to $19.50 now. Ouch, That's an 80% decline. Must be doing something wrong, I'd say. And believe me, it all starts with their analyst's reports.
