It's an interesting point, but if the discovery hole is good, after the trading holt, the SP will be up 300 - 500+ % at the open.
Following that logic you are right. If SVY discover a world class porphyry deposit, buying at $2 (approx $300 mill MC) will still leave upside with low risk. The MC will be $1billion+ 6 months later.
But why not have a bet both ways? Invest some now and a lot more on discovery?
