This mess involves the judgement and complicity of the PM as well.
There is no public office higher than the PM and Deputy PM.
So we're talking about errors of judgement around entitlements, jobs being allocated improperly and failure of disclosures at the highest levels of government!
More importantly how does the coalition defend not wanting a federal ICAC?
Because state ICAC is how the state-based ones on your list got nailed! And those are the most egregious cases. You cannot put Dastyari on the same list as Obeid. There is no comparison.
You'd have to assume the coalition don't want a federal ICAC because they've got too much to hide.
This scandal is occurring at the highest levels of government and has the potential to bring down the coalition in it's current form.
I don't think you realise how big this is, and what it means for Shorten as he came out this January committing Labor to a federal ICAC equivalent.
