James, why on earth would you sell half of the best performing share in the last few years to then pay capital gains tax, then have to try and find another share that has outperformed CSL (if there is one) and possibly re-invest ? Or diversify ? in another share ?????. I would exchange any share in my portfolio including RHC for CSL. Reckless ? Risky ? Yes, its unusual, but only if you DIDNT have CSL as 90% of your portfolio. Risky would be if you sold half your CSL to buy a highly speccy share or a penny dreadful.... Sure, fund managers wouldnt be in the same situation; but in retrospect, Im sure a hell of a lot of them would love to be !!!!!! I know I would ! Especially since the dividends (although not on todays prices) based on the initial cost price of CSL, are fairly substantial.
Why tinker with a winning formula ????
