The common problem on HC is that newbies are usually in love with the stock or in denial and desperately listening to the so-called "well-researched experts" on HC who are upramping the stock. So they need to repeatedly hear the other side of the story to prepare them to take action if required.

Look at RAP, GSW, and MUS. The "experts" kept attacking those who were warning holders about possible negative scenarios. Then when the negative scenarios eventuated, the newbies were frozen like deer in the headlights. Your suggestion about waiting is the worst thing to do. The best thing is to consider all scenarios then have a strategy ready for all eventualities.

Note that I'm not saying that BIG is like RAP, GSW, and MUS. This is just a general comment to warn people about not falling in love with stocks and to be open-minded and ready for action. Nobody knows everything that is happening in a company, and company directors are paid partly to present the company in a positive light, so being a true-believer makes no sense. When the announcements materialise, then read between the lines. Read like a sceptic, and have multiple strategies in place.

Fantastic perspective and a well balanced piece about stocks in general. There are always smiles on the way up, and tears on the way down. The trick is to be a skeptic, but always realistic and of course, not to have all your eggs in one basket. Your post would be relevant to ALL folders, not just this one !
