Zurich; the problem with our cities is that our rotten, self-serving, myopic and populist pollies have NOT undertaken longer term planning of them. They've done next to nothing other than collect taxpayer remuneration and perks.
Australia's pollies real plan has been:
1. High levels of immigration: boost demand, cheap and compliant workers, Ponzi property market propped up.
2. Feed $Greed: rezone land to enable mates to make windfall $Squillions.
3. React to problems as they become critical: Australia's urban disease, allow taxpayers to get ripped off by construction firms building core infrastructure.
4. Shame and blame immigrants for what goes wrong.
As for Tony Abbott being right about something, you jest of course! Abbott mouths whatever he thinks will get him brownie points - his knowledge of matters economic and geographical is zip, zero, zilch!
