This is very simple guys but not many seem to be paying attention.

Fairfax make close to $2 bill revenue p/a via their various advertising channels - their margins are tight and have survived for years by stripping costs to the bone - which is a work still being undertaken.

And BIG has grown its advertising revenue at this break next speed and still growing - I don’t know the breakdown but hazard to guess a significant proportion is in Australia.

The traditional media company is crumbling and BIG poses another major threat in a world where there actually is a fixed amount of the advertising pie to be spent.

Does anyone think it is just possible that in the back of someone’s minds up there in Pyrmont they think they might be able to stamp out the spark before it becomes a fire - or heck, even launch a bid for the company?
