Good idea. Lock all overhead lockers automatically before take-off and keep them locked during the flight until disembarking time.
If someone needs something during the flight, ask a cabin staff member (who can temporary unlock it individually). That will also prevent certain passengers stealing stuff from other people while the owner cannot see or is asleep.
