you lose $6000 (and you have to wait until the administrator is finished with everything and declares that the gig is up before you can claim the loss as a capital loss on your tax to offset any capital gains.... and that can take years.... I had a company that went into administration and it took almost a decade before I was able to declare the loss and offset it against any gains)
