Just to add to what you have rightly said: I also do architecture in the uk and Solar panels as we know them with be a thing of the past soon. (Not too appealing to the eye) We are starting to introduce solar tiles/ slates for roofs. They look like a normal everyday roof but obviously have a larger surface area creating a larger amount of solar energy per household then conventional methods. Also, new battery technology is been introduced whereas solar electricity produced can be stored, this can then power homes 24/7. Electricity stored that is not being used can be drawn back into the grid when needed for a rebate to the homeowner. This can be very cost-effective for homeowners living in places like Australia with sun all year round. It also means that each household is like a mini power source for the grid, over time allowing power stations to produce less and reducing over supply and electricity wastage. If all newbuilds were to incorporate this design mandatory, ( which I don't think is too far away from happening) it just adds to the already high demand for battery commodities DYOR
