My postulation to such a grand question is as follows;

- provides opportunity for subscribers to properly research recommendations prior to market opening.
- analysts like Fat Prophets purchase a position for purposes of their model portfolio and contest that position like any of their subscribers at the market bell ie subscribers would be less than impressed that their own analyst profited unfairly from the recommendation.

Could be other profound reasons - open for discussion.
