So we live in a democracy because you are told we do?
I don't think there is a difintive defintion of democracy.
Some claim that it means rule by the people.
I don't think we are ruled by the people. In fact I think the people have less say in what happens as each year passes. Some say it is about being 'free'.
More laws to protect us I guess.
Try leaving the country without a passport. Try riding a push bike without a helmet. Try not paying the rates on the house you own.
Of course a benevolent dictator is a unlikely in a world that has manipulated democracy to represent capitalism.
The feudal system is one that also springs to mind as a workable system (as long as the King (or Queen) was benevolent).
The system failed because of the 2 main stays of capitalism...fear and greed (and possibly some inbreeding).
