in fairness @Fixit linkedin is not that much a different proposition to Big - its an online pltform for sharing and referring....just a different focus. I have generally respected what you have said on here, but I think you are chomping at the bit on this one for no real reason. LInkedin is a viable and useful tool for professionals - it serves a purpose.

That said, someone not having updated their profile in Linkedin does not suddenly make them useless / a crook / not worth hiring, which seems to be what few folks on here are insinuating (not you, I know). Its like facebook, some people dig it, others not. no judgement should be passed either way
