"The 2018 Honda Accord Hybrid uses a new generation two-motor hybrid powertrain system. A 2.0-liter engine offers improved thermal efficiency over the one in last year’s model. This engine is paired to two electric drive motors that are the first in the world to use permanent magnets with no heavy rare-earth metals. The intelligent power unit, which houses the battery pack and its control systems, is now more compact and is mounted under the rear floor instead of in the trunk. The entire system helps the model achieve a total output of 212 hp."
