Spot on TJ......he's only doing what every CFO tries to do of a large Company - talk the price down of something they have no control over.
The reality is (according to everything I've researched & read) is that a viable alternative to Cobalt in the make up of EV Batteries is at least 10 years away...possibly longer.
Most Universities & research houses who are exploring alternatives have pretty much admitted this. It's also very risky given the chemical properties.....last thing we need is exploding cars.
At some point the Cobalt price will stabilize as more producers come on stream over the next 3 to 5 years making it more affordable & mainstream in battery manufacturing at which point "new technologies" will take a back seat as they become price neutral.
Cheers
