    A careful and insightful assessment.

At the less critically sick end, as someone with autoimmune diseases, the rash decision of a GP to give me a steroid injection almost completely wrecked my system and I'm still recovering in the aftermath. Because they didn't warn me it would collapse my already fragile immune system, I contracted various illnesses (whooping cough was one) which required a barrage of antibiotics that should have been administered intravenously -but weren't - which then wrecked my gut and created compound problems.

Flu? I got mega flu. etc.

Since then my immune system is highly reactive about ordinary parasites that other people are not bothered by. Years of misery and confusion have followed as I struggled with medicos with binary attitudes to human health who are equally dismissive about s more integrated view of cause and effect.

Being told it's pyschosomatic on top of it hasn't endeared me to many medical experts who use this as a cover for a lack of knowledge and understanding. Example: one specialist refused to read clinical test results ordered by a very reputable University at the request of a qualified Microbiologist/natropath because he wasn't familiar with the test and didn't want to educate himself about it. What should he care? He had a lucrative clinicial practice and a very compliant patient base.

In fact, I was probably close to death. I was not producing any e-coli. None. The lab kept retesting as they thought they'd made a mistake. It was no mistake. Yet this specialist expressly told me to avoid natropaths and I ignored him and went back to show him the test result. It was like talking to a blank wall.

My dentist's wife had similar experiences. This is not about waving crystals and muttering incantations. It's practical science. However the problem in turn with the micro/nat man is he didn't know enough about the human biology he was dealing with and he significantly helped me but also made some mistakes.

Since then my immune system has been going crazy about ordinary parasites that other people are not bothered by! Years of misery and confusion have followed. I have struggled through an LLM during this time but it's been sub-optimal.

Despite seeing a variety of so-called specialists, none of which had any answers, the most effective measures to deal with this have been probiotics and dietary controls. This is in conjunction with the latest in medical research, that my current GP - bless her - has been guiding me/muddling through. Clinical practice in this country generally changes at a glacial rate and the reality of patient's experience can be deplorable as a result. The lack of curiosity, the tendency to grab blanket solutions and then stonewall any deficiencies in the patient response as psychosomatic, is alarming.

I summarise the situation by saying that quite a few doctors have been doing their best to kill me, but I'm a defiant type.

To say the medical system is Dickensian is surely true, but it doesn't capture the complex consequences of these heavy-handed tools. That the 'cure' is worse than the malady (which was only an asthma attack and not a serious one, I just happened to be in the surgery at the time) goes without saying. I also avoid asthma medication as it can further damage the gut, and almost completely control my asthma with diet and anti inflammatory dietary supplements. Naturally I always have an inhaler handy just in case.

If someone comes towards me with a needle these days, I run at about 1,000 km per hour in the opposite direction. If it has MSB stem cells in it, I might not be so wary!

Now and again I express a kind of controlled outrage at the goings on in the MSB threads, particularly with shorters who never own up.

I'm particularly incensed that MSB is busy saving lives while it seems all shorters can do is spread misery. They've certainly made it harder for MSB to raise capital by suppressing the shareprice with adverse consequences. Many investors have given up on MSB and taken a hit. Then we get taunts about trading exploits....
