Your position would apply if OM researched a report and someone took short positions based upon it. That's not what occurred here. The short positions were taken out immediately prior to a sensationalist series of AFR articles, based in part on the OM report but including a lot of other negative commentary. OM only wrote one report, yet there were a series of AFR sensationalist articles and extreme short positions.

It looks deliberate, pre-planned for maximum impact.
