MICROGENIX AIR PURIFICATION INSTALLED IN READINESS FOR THE
2004 OLYMPICS........
Microgenix has been assigned a contract for the delivery and installation of a Microgenix Air
Purification system which will be a key part of the construction of a special 'Bio Protection
Ward' which is currently under construction at the Military Hospital of Athens. This Ward will
be operational in time for the 2004 Olympic Games.
The hospital is under the umbrella of the Greek Ministry of Defence and is the first Biological
& Chemical Protection project to be initiated in Greece. A Microgenix air purification system
is being installed within the Military Hospital as a security measure for protection against
biological agents especially during the Olympics.
This project is being managed by the Hellenic Ministry of Defence and the installation is
expected to be complete by early January 2004.
The contract was awarded through Ch. Apostolou, the main distributor for Microgenix Air
Purification Technology for Greece and Cyprus. Ch.Apostolou is the leading refrigeration
manufacturing and trading company in Greece. CH.Apostolou’s Microgenix Division has also
been entrusted with the design and construction of a prototype Military Bio Safety Laboratory
(BSL+3) in Athens incorporating Microgenix Air Purification Systems to ensure the best
possible air quality will be available in the laboratory.
Microgenix Managing Director Phillip Hall has commented “ I am confident this sale will lead
to further orders, not only in Greece, as Bio Protection is becoming increasingly important
around the globe “.
