A ‘safety in numbers’ attitude is rife in hotcopper imo.

Sometimes I’ve found myself holding a stock with a SP that is rapidly collapsing

If I were to examine the pros and cons of continuing to hold in reflective solitude 9 times out of 10 I’d probably dump

But as a Hotcopper user I tend to seek comfort and assurance in the company of other holders of the same stock

We slap each other on the back, talk down the risks, poo-poo our concerns, encourage each other with talk of ‘x dollar parties’ etc

Sitting unspoken at the back of my mind is a belief that while the situation sucks, at least I have my comrades beside me and we’ll get through this together

Until one day I look around and all my former comrades have left. Exiting the building without even saying goodbye.

And I realise there never was any safety in numbers. It was always an illusion. A cruel self deception

Then my mind begins to wander. I suspect the worst. How much stock did those guys hold anyway? Were they selling as I was buying? Did they ever even hold at all?

And then I realise I’ll never know for sure. And it doesn’t really matter anyway because the situation can’t be reversed
