"CBD forgot to mention the other day that we asked G8 Education boss, Gary Carroll, about the legal action former chairwoman Jenny Hutson has taken against the group over her legal bills.
News of the lawsuit emerged in December last year, with Hutson claiming G8 had covered just half of the $300,000 in legal costs she had racked up since ASIC began investigating the group's unsuccessful takeover of Affinity Education in 2015.
She wants the child care operator to cover all of her costs. This will be considerable given Hutson has now been charged and is gearing up to front the courts with the best legal defence money can buy.
Paul McQuade QC was engaged by Hutson to take on G8 Education about her legal bill last year and Carroll told CBD that "it's still before the courts".
McQuade must be pretty good at getting money out of people, he has also represented Nathan Tinkler, and based on what CBD has heard from the bogamaire's previous hired help, you need to operate on a cash-up-front basis.
As for Hutson's legal stouch with G8, lets hope it all gets settled before the big ASIC case kicks off next month".
