A ndrix. ... .I have a good bit of time for u and your thoughts....But, once I held a little stock called mermaid marine...there was a strike at their facilities some 5 or 6 years ago...they caved...I think a t.a. was costing the company ( with travel and accomodation allowances etc) more than 160 g a year...this was some years ago too....and that figure may have been what the worker got paid....thing is , say it was $80g above market rates...500 workers....40 m per year...market cap effect possibly $300m....lot of money for a little company!!...mermaid is on its knees and it is just one of the factors that has gone wrong....
I also have shares in brickworks...mentioned in today’s report is how they had to shut a factory in Victoria due to Union dominance at the sight...they say workers are getting paid twice what other similar positions in other states...unions have been great over the years, but there are instances where it is just too over the top!! I don’t know the specifics here, but “ rostering” sounds a bit antiquated...and I don’t think it is as harmless as it sounds !!
