The unbridaled passion and innovation of a founder is key. If they have business faults you surround them with the people who reign those faults in. IMO you do not erase what gave the company its edge in the first place. Brilliance verges on insanity...
To lose the spark or radical thinking of a founder, would also be crazy. The thoughts of a founder are so totally different to the masses who could replace them and make the company average with little fire innovation and vision. Just my thoughts after having enough fire in my own belly to change the culture within a national airline (not Qantas), through my own innovation. Nobody else had it in them during that period in time and haven’t since. Just my thoughts after leading an idea that went to USA and won the PRSA Silver Anvil in America. Richard is far from perfect but he is an important part of the mechanism that makes BIG stand above the others.
