Sorry tbf001 but you are mistaken.
The banks do not fund their lending side from any particular part of their liability base.
Rather they have a mix of liabilities, both wholesale and retail - each bank will have a different % mix, and even this will vary week by week.
Any shortfall in the retail deposit base will require them to tap the wholesale market for additional funds.
That is a simplistic explanation because one also needs to throw into the equation the maturity profile of the A/L book, both by liability maturity profile and source.
