The Melb Sunday Herald Sun paper has a competition in the Your Money section titled the "Battle of the tipsters". The five tipsters who are from all walks of life, operate under the following Rules of engagement: "Our share tipsters have been allocated an imaginary total of $10000,with a $2000 maximum on each of five stocks. They may hold their portfolio or buy and sell two stocks each week".
The 10 year old Brighton student has just sold 169 BHP for $1944 and purchased 2090 Redflex for $1944. I think he has now turbo boosted his portfolio with 20% allocation into a growth stock about to take off. I don't have a clue about the qualities of the other four stocks in his imaginary portfolio, but even if they collectively track sideways, my money is on the young student to win.
This is the current state of the competition. 7/12/03 Yr 10 student portfolio worth $10,384 Clairvoyant St Kilda $10,138 Toorak nurse $10,061 Handyman Rowville $9,922 Professor, University of Melbourne $8,925 All being well, I will endeavour to keep the forum up todate with the pecking order. Ian
