Yes, I taped 'the midas formula' when it was on sbs some time ago. A very interesting documentary on LTCM and its rise and fall. The theory works, if we learn the lessons of ltcm and not try and get too big too quick.
The problem is, its growth neutral. It hedges stock positions to neutral by selling calls or puts, depending on whether the stock goes up or down.So you dont actually make any money, you just get to offset loss. Theres no 'zero' -as in your roulette wheel.
Nevertheless, the options market is beatable. Im using Excel to query any dynamic feed, and am writing my own spreadsheets, using Hoadley's ideas as a base.I chart the SP500 against the VIX ( a new volatility indicator from the CBOE). My charting gives me a view, and I look for stocks that move with the index. US options are much more liquid, especially if you want to trade a few strike prices out.
Its not the holy grail, but Im still working on it, and much further ahead than a year ago.

Hi to all the old timers round here!
I left TMO last week and am back lurking on the site.......
