The media reports I have read show consumers are wondering why they haven't been targeted for the faster technology. They then whinge to politicians who will probably pork barrel some commitments to their constituents before the next election.

The NTC management are so conservative that they had to go out of their way yesterday to tell investors they have no idea who will get the orders for all these new FTTC connections. It only took NTC years to trial and prove the technology to the NBN (after being asked to do so by NBN). They are now its sole approved supplier for this equipment. There is almost no chance a second supplier will be asked to design and test similar equipment for NBN. All to squeeze NTC for a bit less margin? It's not going to happen.
