In my experience snakes cannot always sense where vibrations are coming from, and might actually move towards the source rather than away from it.From a height of about 3 metres I once threw a piece of railway line at an Eastern Brown.It landed about 7cm behind it.The snake instantly raised its head and looked towards the front.Didn't turn around to have a look, though.We average a sighting of one snake for every 12 hours we spend outside in Summer(kept statistcs)--SE Qld.Have had 10 snakes in house.Drove to Brisbane one night,not knowing there was a pale headed snake on back seat.Sometimes wish I lived in NZ.
