How to profit from stocks.
1. Buy low sell high.
2. Sell high buy low.
Example.
You sell BHP at $38.00, let's say 1000 units. You don't hold the shares that you just sold, you have to acquire them later.
You buy those shares later at $37.00.
You sold $38,000 worth of BHP and you covered the sale with an outlay of $37,000. You have made $1000.
