was this your first foray into the market ?
if so, why those stocks you mentioned ?
maybe choose some you have a personal interest in, either thru work or interests - at least you will know that industry better.
if no, then consider which sectors are looking ahead. with the oil price high and remaining so for some time, maybe consider oil producers (with solid sales currently) or even the companies that service that industry. worldwide oil majors have budgetted for massive increases in spending in the next 3 years, searching, obtaining & delivering the black gold. the services companies will be a major recipient of this spending. WOR has taken a beating this month, despite new contracts totalling hundreds of millions. MRM & NMS have been pushed down for no real reason either, other than following the market. both are minnows with bright futures.
