It's funny how some things you can watch time after time, other things are a one-off. Detective shows are a one time only for me because once you know "who dunnit" it's disposable. On the other side I don't know how many times I've watched Room with a View or Notting Hill. With the latter it's probably just Julie Roberts that drags me back, especially with that line: "I'm just a girl, standing in front of a guy, asking him to love her"
So it is with Last of the Summer Wine.
Periodically I start rewatching my collection, which only extends to about series 25.
Last night I watched the episode called The Mysterious CW Northrop.
Some of it is just pleasantly humorous, some is side-splitting. I'm a huge fan of the Foggy Dewhirst character.
But I always am gobsmacked by the genius of the writer Roy Clarke, who was prolific to the nth degree in his creations but who got away with murder in his repetitive jokes over many different series. But that seems to be a part of comic genius, leading the viewer to anticipate what's coming a lot of the time.
