housing loans are one thing, but I wonder how many ppl have 'investment loans' and other such named equity loans that were used for nothing but consumption purposes - holidays, cars (especially), boats and just general living (school fees, etc)
these are the ones that will come back to haunt the loaners and loanees alike - they are based on the equity on their assets at the time of the loan - the loan amount is real while the asset price is not and can easily fall
