Two rival Western Australian lithium miners, Tawana Resources and Altura Mining, have been the subject of mergers and acquisitions activity in recent weeks, and Mr Brinsden said Pilbara Minerals had mandated defence advisers in case it too became the subject of a takeover bid.
When asked why Pilbara Minerals had not received takeover bids from the likes of BHP and Rio Tinto, Mr Brinsden said the multinational miners were increasingly interested in the sector.
