Labor MP Tim Hammond has resigned from the seat of Perth citing inability to cope with the dual roles of being a father to 3 children while spending large amounts of time away from home as an MP from Perth. Fair enough...except that the average by election costs about $1.5 million to hold so his matter of personal indulgence is costing tax payers that amount. Anything wrong with doing the job he signed up for for another 12 months, even in a half hearted way, rather than hand balling this bill to the taxpayer?
