My understand is the Li Carbonate produced from brine needs further processing to convert to Li Hydroxide, at cost of additional $3,000 pt. I also understand that Li Hydroxide is used in NCA batts (4 generation) and will be same for 5th gen batts aswell.
This additional processing and associated costs is the point KB makes in the company presentations.
