I can relate to that.
In my active years visited many people of all ages, installing and servicing domestic stuff (you know the time when people used to rent stuff so not having to worry about repair costs).
Many lacked friends who would actually listen to them. Many people also have 'mates', but are they 'friends'? Too much competative talk among socalled mates.
If you want to be a friend to your mate, start with listening and don't interrupt with your own stories.
