I was recently talking with a mate in the water distribution business and he told me there is only something like 80 km of missing high capacity water pipeline between Sydney and Melbourne.
Surely there is a high bang for buck project in there to help drought proof much of south east Australia?
Connecting major dams, resevoirs, catchments to optimise catchment and storage.
Connecting under-utilised desal plants in Sydney and Melbourne.
Being able to drain dams in seasonally high rainfall areas by transferring the water to seasonally dry areas.
Harvesting and storing stormwater runoff from new cities forming part of a decentralising, value capture funding model for a Melbourne to Sydney very fast train.
